Our caskets and shrouding boards are made from Douglas fir, the State Tree of Oregon. We appreciate both its physical qualities and its connection to this place. Doug fir is strong, reliable, and deeply woven into the ecology and identity of the Pacific Northwest. We love driving through the Coast Range or the Cascades and being surrounded by it. It's like being in a Bob Ross painting with a horizon of happy trees.

We are Meghan Ochal and Erik de Guzman, a small, family-owned workshop building handcrafted burial vessels from sustainably harvested Pacific Northwest timber. We use FSC-certified wood and natural materials, with natural and green burial needs in mind.

This is our Santiam River casket. The Santiam River model was inspired by log cabins, which we find quite cozy and comforting even when rustic, and we thought this design could be a fitting final resting place.

Welcome to Treen! We are a small, family-owned woodworking business based in Salem, Oregon. Treen uses a variety of woodworking techniques to turn sustainably harvested Pacific Northwest timber into beautiful burial vessels. We use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood and natural materials so that our caskets may be used for natural/green burials, but our caskets may be buried in any type of cemetery (or even one’s backyard, depending on state and local laws). We use soft woods, such as Douglas Fir and Ponderosa Pine, which are not only more affordable for us and our customers, but weigh less and decompose more quickly than hardwoods like oak and maple.
